Pecha-Kucha Night Birmingham

Introduction:

Pecha-Kucha Night was devised in 2003 by Klein Dytham Architecture in Tokyo.   It is an event created to allow designers, architects and artists meet, network, and socialize with one another.  More importantly, it allows designers of all kinds to present their work in a public, informal, intimate, and concise method in a relaxed environment.  It is an opportunity to present fresh, innovative, and creative work, ideas or concepts.

Each presenter is allowed 20 slides that are displayed for 20 seconds each for a total of six minutes and 40 seconds of presentation freedom.  Presentations can be about ideas, newly built works, research, events, or projects of any kind - in any field of design.

Anyone can present, anyone can watch, everyone is welcome.

Pecha Kucha Story:
Pecha Kucha (pronounced peh-chak-cha), is a Japanese expression for the sound of conversation.  It is a series of show and tell evenings for designers, architects, artists, creatives, … started by Klein Dytham Architecture in Tokyo.
Since 2003 groups have sprung up in cities all over the world (over 80 so far) and adopted the Pecha Kucha format: each presenter has 20 slides which are displayed for 20 seconds each.
The idea is to create an environment where creatives from all fields can present (in 6 minutes and 40 seconds) a project completed, under development, or one which they dream to see realized.  Anyone who has made, or will make, something interesting and would like share with the curious and open minded is welcome.
It is a relaxed atmosphere in which the only constraint imposed is the 20×20 format. The Pecha Kucha meetings in Tokyo are animated, lively - usually even noisy - and the attendees feel completely free to discuss and exchange ideas.
The presentations begin, of course, at 20:20hrs (8:20 pm for the temporally challenged) On average 10 to 12 speakers follow one another with a 30 minute pause in the middle.
