The Smorgasbord by Danya Humaideh
Congratulations to David Blackmon for having the first correct response to the question posed in last month’s newsletter! The “eco-village” is called the Beddington Zero Energy Development and is located in Wallington, England. Good work all!
This month, Job Dissatisfaction…Where does it come from and what can be done to fix it?
A lack of job satisfaction seems to be a trend lately. Why? There has to be a reason, right? Is it a boss? Is it the pay? Is it the way business is conducted? It could be one or all of these things but there are ways to fix it.
Managers must give their employees motivation to keep up the efforts. This could include anything from a good pat on the back to an increase in pay. Either one is a good way to increase a person’s feeling of self-worth. Without that, we are just left with something to pay the bills. Our jobs practically consume our lives; if we are not happy then what is the point?
Managers: Ask your employees what they think…not a few but all because it is a group effort to keep the company going. Also, showing some appreciation for a job well done can go a long way.
Employees: Do not be afraid to make suggestions about ways to make things better; the worst your boss can say is no. And if things get that bad, start looking for something else. The universe has its own way of taking care of things; sometimes good opportunities will seem like they fell from the sky. It’s quite an amazing feeling!

How to Get an Architects Attention Seminar
The sponsor seminar was a huge success. We would like to thank Pat Conrad, our mediator for a great job keeping everyone in line. Our panel of architects, Trevor Matchett, Fred Yeager, Roman Gary and Richard Richard were able to answer every question. We have had nothing but positive feedback from everyone. This seminar gave the architects a better understanding of being on the sponsor side. If you were unable to attend and would like a list of the questions and answers, please contact danya@aiabham.org and we will mail them to you. Thank you again for your participation.
