FREE LUNCH & PRODUCT SHOW – October 13th
Thank you members for another successful sponsor appreciation product show. Parking was easy, door prizes were fabulous and lunch was delicious. There was a lot of great networking and socializing. Architects enjoying each other’s company, who knew?! See the photo gallery of the event here.
TempleEmanu-El is available for rent, contact person is Dina Glass.

AIA Golf Tournament
Rain or shine, we are playing golf! We tried, but the rain would not give us a break. Thanks to all those who came out in the rain and ate lunch and yummy chocolate dipped cookies with us. RTJ staff did a great job making the situation not so bad. Golfers were given a voucher for another golf day. We gave away the door prizes and many stayed at the bar and networked (yes, that is what we call it these days). See more photos here.
Remember the money is for charity, Pathways and Birmingham Architectural Foundation.
GOLF SPONSORS – Since everyone did not get to see your hole sponsor, drink cart sponsor and meal sponsor signs, we are going to have the golf sponsor signs at our annual Holiday Party in December and of course you are invited to the Holiday Party.
Thank you again for sponsoring the AIA Golf Tournament. You can also see the sponsors on our Golf Page.
AIA Green Book Club
Marshall Anderson and Trevor Matchett have volunteered to start a Green Book Club for AIA. The first book is Cradle to Cradle by William McDonough & Michael Braungart. The book is available at Barnes & Noble $27.50, on line at Books A Million $20.16.
The book club will meet in early December to discuss, more details next month.
Let us know if you are going to participate in the book club.

AIA Holiday “Topper” Party
Thank you EDT for hosting the AIA Holiday “Topper” Party. This year our holiday party will be scaled back a little, but we still plan to have a great time. There will be light appetizers, beer, wine and a signature drink.
We are also asking everyone to TOP off with their favorite hat. If you do not wear a hat, we are asking for a tax deductible contribution to the Birmingham Architectural Foundation. All donations will be earmarked to purchase art supplies for dreamArchitecture.

Reminder - Career Center Added to Alabama Council Web Site
In an effort to bring architects together in these tough financial times, the Alabama Council has added a feature to the web site for employers to post job openings and for architects seeking work to post their resumes and credentials. These items can be found at www.aiaalabama.org/career, or you can visit www.aiaalabama.org and click on the Career Resource Center in the top right hand of the page.
Take a few moments to review the new feature and encourage people to participate. It will only be useful if members utilize the site.
