No one was able to Name that Downtown Architecture in the September Newsletter so here is clue number two.  If you can name it, you win a free chapter meeting in November and that is one meeting you do not want to miss!!! Where is it? Look from 2nd Ave. North and 19th St. North to 5th Ave North and 22nd St. North.

The golf tournament is one week away and you can still sign up your teams/players!  If you have not signed up to play in the AIA Birmingham Annual Golf tournament, you need to by Friday October 6th.  This is the deadline procrastinators! 
194 players have signed up to play, don’t be left out!!
If you have signed up for the tournament and have not confirmed your players, please email aiabirm@aiabham.org with your players names by Friday October 6th.

Free Food – Games for the kids – Free Prizes – Kids Costume Contest!!!!  October 28th, 2006   11:30 – 2:00
We are starting the AIA 150 celebration early!!! The fall picnic will be at GOLDEN & ASSOCIATES CONSTRUCTION (under the big tent)
2212 1st Avenue South. 
BLOCK USA is sponsoring a yummy fish fry (chicken for those of you who do not like fish), corn fritters, hush puppies and delicious cheese cakes.
There will be games for the kids and prizes.  Prizes are limited so come early!!! Games include; golf putting contest, disc golf, hula hoop contest, ping pong ball toss and musical chairs.

The kids costume contest will be at 1:00 under the big tent.  We will award a winner, 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place prizes.  The age categories are;
        0 – 2 years old
        3, 4 & 5 year olds
        1st, 2nd & 3rd grade
        4th, 5th & 6th grade
This is a BYOB event.  We will not serve alcoholic beverages, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Dogs are invited on leashes and bring your own pooper scooper!!

November Chapter Meeting – Don’t Miss this One!
Tsitalia Imports, 2200 3rd Avenue South
This chapter meeting is a little different from the rest.  George Sarris owner of The Fish Market Restaurant and co-owner of Tsitalia Imports will give a brief history lesson on Greek Urns (some urns in the store are 300 years old) and other Greek pottery. He will explain the different uses of each style urn.  Then you will be treated to a delicious meal prepared by THE FISH MARKET.  Your menu will include;  country Greek salad, grilled vegetables, rosemary potatoes, shrimp & crabmeat sautéed in wine sauce (cooked on site) poached salmon, chicken kabobs and assorted ethnic desserts!  Are you hungry yet?  Don’t forget your business card to drop in the urn and have a chance at winning a 16” handmade copper sink, one gallon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil or one medium Greek Antique Urn.
