AIA Birmingham Announces Creation of Birmingham Architectural Foundation

During the August meeting of AIA Birmingham, chapter president Phil Black announced the creation of a non-profit foundation - the Birmingham Architectural Foundation!  The Foundation's purposes are:

  • To provide enhanced support and funding for two of our chapter's current outreach programs - "studio I" and "dreamArchitecture" - and any future outreach programs
  • To initiate a program of financial scholarships for students of NAAB-accredited architecture programs

As a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, the Foundation will be eligible to receive grants from numerous companies and benefactors that AIA Birmingham would not.  Additionally, the Foundation's non-profit status means that all contributions received from individuals and companies are also tax deductible!

The quantity and amount of scholarships the Foundation will award will depend upon funding received.  While AIA Birmingham will provide some funding, we also desire to see this program supported financially by individuals and members of our chapter.  Please consider a contribution to assist these students, and remember us in your planned year-end giving!

To learn more about the Foundation or the scholarship program, contact Rhea Williams at the AIA Birmingham office.
