2008

The annual AIA Golf tournament started out small at the Highland golf course in the 1990's.  Now it is one of the largest tournaments held.  It is held at Robert Trent Jones Golf course on the Valley and Ridge courses.  In 2007 we had a record number of 231 players.  The 2007 golf tournament was a fund raiser for Pathways, a women and children’s shelter and the Birmingham Architectural Foundation.  The AIA has given $60,000 to charity organizations since the first golf tournament! 

The AIA GOLF tournament proved how much all of you care about helping others (or you really like to play golf!).  We realize the economy is not in the best shape and your businesses are struggling, but you still stepped up,  sponsored our tournament and played.  We had 234 players and around 20 volunteers.  Laura Smith with Marvin Windows collected over $1000 in mulligans the day of the tournament.  This money will be part of the money donated to Pathways and Birmingham Architectural Foundation. We appreciate your support and time.  We look forward to next year’s tournament.

AIA Golf Presents Checks to Birmingham Architectural Foundation & Pathways The AIA golf committee presented two generous checks to Pathways and the Birmingham Architectural Foundation. Connie Hill, Executive Director of Pathways and Drue Ealons of Pathways received the $8000.00 check at the March 25th Chapter meeting. Phil Black, immediate past president of the BAF accepted the $5000 check on behalf of the Birmingham Architectural Foundation.

The AIA Annual Golf Tournament is a great opportunity to network with architects, engineers, contractors, bankers, developers and industry related professionals.  At the end of the tournament we have a BBQ dinner, award the prizes to the winners and draw for door prizes.  The AIA goody bag is rumored to be THE BEST in town too!

The 2008 AIA Annual Golf Tournament was October 9th at Robert Trent Jones, Valley and Ridge courses.
